Collection No.13
The Sun. The one that sheds light, that invigorates, that catalyzes growth on earth; the one that shapes our calendar, sets the pace of life, guides us east or west. The mighty, powerful star that burns just close enough, just far enough, just long enough; that is capable of giving life in the form of energy and taking it away if unbalanced.
All human cultures and civilizations have worshiped some sort of deity, built some sort of altar in the Sun’s name. Its powerful light is present in one way or another in every cosmogony, in every origin story. For the Hindi, it is an emblem of Vishnu and Buda; the Aztec honor him in the image of Huitzilopochtli, an eagle carrying a starred-night snake on its peak; the Welsh call him the eye of the day; The Egyptians have worshiped him as Ra and Osiris, the Incas as Inti, the Yacuna as Caamu, the Muiscas as Sue.
With SOLE we celebrate the divine quality of this magnificent ball of fire, we share our awe with its transformative power, its strong meaning of opportunity and rebirth, and its everlasting dance of harmony with its celestial counterpart, the Moon.
We believe that symbols with opposite meanings are not to be confronted, but brought together as complements of each other, as elements that meet to create perfect equilibrium.
The Sun is yin, the Moon is yang. The Sun is the father, The Moon, the mother. The Sun is intuitive knowledge, the Moon reasoned one. The Sun is gold and the Moon silver, the Sun is soul and the Moon body. Together they represent the essence of form and matter.
Earth and skies, moist and dry, north and south, darkness and light, day and night: masculine and feminine energies working in tandem. Together they are invincible.
With SOLE we celebrate the masculine force of life, as well as men getting in touch with the feminine qualities within them and expressing them without constraints. We also want to honor the men who share our path.
In our 13th collection you will find various expressions of the Sun: the spiral which, for the Anasazi, represents the healing power of the cosmos, and sun rays, which have been portrayed in Shiva’s hair and Apollo’s arrows. The collection is filled with everyday statement pieces for all genders, telling the sun’s stories and showing its powerful energy. All our jewelry is made of recycled sterling silver, sometimes with a 24k gold vermeil. Gold has a special meaning in this collection since it’s believed to be the form the Sun’s spirit takes on earth. You will also find fire gemstones such as carnelian and rutilated quartz and other AB favorites such as ruby sozite, onyx, lapis lazuli and aventurine.
