Reshaping Minds | Reshaping Matter
As jewelers, we believe in the power of reshaping matter. This is not only what allows us to create, but also what stands in the heart and essence of our sustainability promise. Planet earth sustains us, inspires us and makes it possible for us to create and express ourselves. These are among the many reasons why we must make all possible efforts to, in turn, support the environment.
For a while now, we have been asking ourselves how we can improve our processes in order to make them environmentally friendly. We began taking action in this direction in 2017 by giving a second life to materials we use: we do not make our jewels out of traditionally mined silver, but of the –equally– pure silver extracted from X-rays by means of chemical and enzymatic processes; the paper we use in our office becomes the stuffing that protects our jewelry in mail deliveries, and we send plastic bottles filled with wraps and other plastic waste from our workshop to Ecoworks, who turns them into construction bricks as part of their #paralabotella campaign.
More recently we felt an urge to turn this concern into a larger conversation, invite others to reflect with us upon how, as an industry, we can live up to the challenge of taking care of the planet in the contemporary context. This is why we set up Ciclo, our sustainability program aimed at completing an environmentally friendly cycle for our production. With support of B&H Consultancy, we set up a private research group to generate knowledge on which to capitalize in order to improve production processes in the premium niche and direct them towards sustainable development.
As designers and producers, we have big responsibility but we are only part of the cycle, this is why we urge you to also take action and become the connecting piece that keeps it enclosed and in motion. Reusing, recycling, passing down objects, garments and knowledge so that nothing is made to be used only once and then be tossed away to cram our land and oceans forever.
